Near Nashville, Dale Hollow Lake is mainly in north central Tennessee, where it covers portions of Clay, Pickett, and Overton Counties. Small arms of the lake also extend northward into the Kentucky counties of Cumberland and Clinton. Dale Hollow Lake itself has a rich history. The old town of Willow Grove, Tennessee (The Drowned City) is now under 27,700 surface acres of water. The crystal clear waters still house the shadowy foundations of what was once a thriving valley town. A favorite location for scuba divers, Dale Hollow Lake also offers a wealth of recreational activities to those who love the outdoors.
