Knoxville Tennessee is a special city and April 21st, 2018 will be a special Saturday. The most talented student and professional artists will once again turn the city sidewalks into colorful canvases during one of Knoxville’s favorite events. The Dogwood Arts ChalkWalk is held within the heart of downtown in Market Square from 8am to 7pm for all to see and enjoy. Space is allocated to chalk artists that compete for ribbons and cash awards. In 2017 over one hundred outdoor chalk artists participated, transforming the sidewalks into a beautiful, inventive gallery. All available art space has been distributed for 2018, so there will be many creations to view and appreciate
Also, along Gay Street that borders the east side of Market Square and in the Old City just a few blocks northeast, flow art performers and artists of all sorts will be displaying their art and music talents from 1pm to 5pm. Some of these are:
- Jugglers, stilt walkers, giant puppets
- Unicyclists, musicians, marching bands
- Aerialists, Hula-Hoopers, poi and contact staff spinners
- Caricaturist, body art, hotdog printer
These events are open to the public at no cost. There are several options and plenty of parking garages and lots all around Downtown Knoxville; many garages and lots are free on weekends and weeknights. Eateries of all types abound; restaurants, pubs, a brewery, and vegetarian options are available, and most are moderately priced. For those who wish to spend the night, there are several fine hotels nearby ranging in price from $47 dollars to just over $100 dollars per night. Give your artsy side some positive strokes and enjoy a fun filled spring day at tenth annual Dogwood Arts Chalk Walk just off Hwy I40 in enchanting downtown Knoxville on April 21st, 2018.
